The JA Finance Park program helps middle and high school students build a foundation for making intelligent personal finance decisions. Educators deliver the curriculum in their classrooms using one of two distinct levels: Entry and Advanced, each tailored to meet the needs of middle and high school students.

The classroom experience culminates in an exciting, day-long visit to Lincoln Finance Park. The JA Finance Park simulation gives students the opportunity to apply classroom learning by creating a family budget based on hypothetical life situations. Students receive their profiles, work through their budgets, and make purchases entirely on iPads. The use of iPad technology allows for in-depth instruction and activities and better engages disconnected students.

Assuming “real-life” personas, students develop a personal budget that includes expenditures for housing, food, savings, transportation, entertainment, health care, utilities, clothing, and education. They recognize the impact of credit history on budget planning and purchasing options.

Students participating in the Advanced program will have a greater personal focus by allowing the opportunity to select their own career, define their future lifestyle and financial goals. The advanced simulation allows students to see the long-term impact of their education, savings, and credit decisions.

JA Finance Park students will also benefit from two locally developed career exploration resources: the online JA Here to CareerTM and the printed JA Career Exploration Guide. These comprehensive resources prepare today's young people for tomorrow's jobs by connecting them with regional career opportunities that match their individual personality, skills, and interests which allows them to map a path to future success.

All JA programs are designed to align with State Standards and to Common Core Standards, ensuring comprehensive educational experiences. Learn more by viewing the JA Finance Park Entry Program Brief or Advanced Program Brief.
